The record

A business base, not a home

This is the official website of Ahmed Gadalla, and this page is its record of his work in the Gulf. It sticks to dated facts drawn from published sources.

One point of clarity first. Ahmed Gadalla lives in Toronto, Canada. The UAE is where he set up his Gulf trading company in 2008 and where his regional business ties sit; it is a business base, not his home.

Why the UAE

For anyone trading into North Africa, the UAE solves a practical problem. Its ports, free zones and airports have made it one of the main re-export and logistics hubs between Asia, Europe and Africa. Suppliers, shipping lines, freight forwarders, banks and inspection services are all within reach of one another. A buyer can source from many countries, consolidate goods and ship them onward from a single point.

That was the kind of work Ahmed Gadalla was already doing. Trained as an industrial engineer at the University of Garyounis (now the University of Benghazi), he started out trading automotive parts from one small store in Benghazi and moved into distribution and logistics. In his early career he built commercial links between North Africa and the Gulf, focused on procurement, logistics and supply chain. In 2008 that experience led him to put a company on the ground in the UAE.

Al Mored Oasis General Trading LLC (2008)

Al Mored Oasis General Trading LLC was Ahmed Gadalla's first registered UAE company, set up on 21 December 2008. It is a general trading company: the kind of vehicle that lets a business buy, hold and sell a broad range of goods rather than a single product line. For someone whose work centred on procurement and supply into Libya, it gave his Gulf activity a formal, registered home.

The company was founded in the same year that Alushibe Holding Group was established, 2008. Through Al Mored Oasis he developed commercial partnerships and trading operations serving regional and international markets.

The group

Alushibe Holding Group's UAE base

Alushibe Holding Group was established in 2008, and Ahmed Gadalla is its founder and Chairman. Its industrial assets are in Libya. Libyan Cement Company (LCC) joined his portfolio in 2023, and he subsequently took the chair of its board. He is also Chairman of Libya United Steel Company for Iron and Steel Industry (SULB), in which role he signed the July 2024 agreements with Türkiye's Tosyali Holding, and of the resulting Tosyali-SULB partnership, a direct reduced iron (DRI) steel complex in Benghazi that the group describes as one of the largest DRI projects in the world.

The group describes itself as an investment group operating across Libya and the UAE. Its UAE office is at Al Masraf Bank Tower in Deira, Dubai, and its Libyan office is in Benghazi.

Gulf and Libya

Trade links between the Gulf and Libya

Ahmed Gadalla's career has moved in steps: from a parts shop to distribution and logistics, and from there to investment in industry.

His shareholdings show the pattern over time. Banking came first, with a stake in Commercial and Development Bank (BCD) from 2005. Aviation followed in 2010 through Berniq Airways, and cement in 2023 through LCC.

Through the conflict years of the 2010s he kept operating in Benghazi. In 2024 about 80 homes for workers were built in connection with LCC's operations. In 2026, LCC's Hawari second production line is being restored after 13 years out of service, and the Zulfa Food Industries factory, equipped by Tetra Pak, is moving from construction towards systems and production readiness. Separately, the group has signed a franchise agreement with Türkiye's MADO to open 10 branches in Libya.

Projects of this kind depend on equipment, materials and services sourced across borders, which is where Gulf trade experience counts. For current project news, see project updates on ahmedgadalla.com.
